The fifteenth meeting took place on Friday April 29th in Nottingham. Here is the programme:
Nonstandard objects in model theory and geometry
Abstract: The issue of what is a standard or nonstandard object is often a matter of context. We will consider "nonstandard" objects such as abelian varieties over real closed fields, which arise as "general fibres" of families of "standard" objects. We will discuss some results and problems, such as existence of Néron models, existence and uniqueness of Haar measure,...
Model theory of d/dp for prime p
Abstract: Tate's da/dp=(a^p-Frob(a))/p involves the Frobenius operator on the Witt vectors over the algebraic closure of the field of p elements. In joint work with Belair and Scanlon, I analyze this structure from model theory point of view. In particular, I will present details on a Hensel's lemma for the above operator, and discuss the model theory of letting p tend to 0.
The talks were in Room C5 of the Maths Building, Nottingham.
